Course Description:
|
This is the 2009 Department of the Interior mandatory course on the Privacy Act. Everyone has a right to privacy! The only way we can preserve that right is to know what information is regarded as private and personal, and how it should be collected, maintained, protected, distributed, safeguarded and scheduled. This Privacy on-line training course will provide guidelines, and recommend Department of the Interior publications for more in-depth information. Understanding the basic requirements of the Privacy Act will help you make better decisions on information about individuals. Regardless of whether you are a CIO, Web Manager, public room specialist, accountant, park ranger or attorney, if you handle or make decisions on information about individuals you each play an important role in protecting the privacy rights of that individual. This
course is one part of the Information Management curriculum. The other course
within this curriculum is "Records Management Awareness." An additional
course explaining the Government Privacy Impact Assessment requirements from the E-Government Act of 2002 is also available on DOI Learn.
Target Audience: All U.S. Department of the Interior employees, contractors, and volunteers.
